At the heart of the known universe there exists a massive wormhole capable of bending reality itself but centered within this cosmic phenomenon lies an even more exciting place many have been pulled into but few have ever left… sober.

Welcome to The Flying Saucer! A visually stimulating retro future virtual nightclub brought to you by CauseCo Industries. Hop on the nearest Cryo Transport Ship and come dance all your time away as you sip whatever booze you have lying around the house and eventually mute whichever DJ set happens to be plugged into the browser at the time so you can have halfway decent conversations with the strangers you just recently met who all apparently use tin cans for microphones. You know, VR life!

I was given early access for media purposes so I could shoot some photos of the place for their upcoming marketing campaigns. It’s a truly unique experience and, using some of the photos they didn’t choose to purchase, I thought I would take you on a little tour of the place!

“Blink and be there!”

“Mmmph… Just five more minutes, mom…”

That’s the slogan of the CauseCo Public Cryo Transit System. I remember stepping into the pod at the transit hub, closing my eyes and, as far as I knew, quickly reopening them to find that I was at my destination. Incredible! Although I did notice one of the chambers had fallen over and was clearly in distress.

“ENTER: THE SAUCER”

First impressions are everything!

They say a photo is worth 1000 words but in this case even a gorgeous shot like this can barely represent the majesty and energy you feel walking into this place. For a nightclub floating in the dead of space it certainly provides a ton of atmosphere and life! You get it? Atmosphere? Because space… yeah I’ll just see myself out now thank you for you time.

The dance floor lighting also has a particular… flair :D
Some lovely abstracts captured from the lighting.
Spacious seating with a view and easy access to both bars

“Cause Why Not?”

“Drink CauseCola Now! DO IT!”

For those not into the usual imbibing of the typical nightclub cocktails (although there is absolutely nothing typical about the drinks here) CauseCo also offers a delicious and highly addictive soft drink known as CauseCola which can be easily purchased from machines located in the back room.

Need cash? A recent solar flare scrambled this row of ATMs. Be sure to bring your own!

Multiple Areas To Enjoy

So you want to hang out with friends but you’re not really feeling the lights of the dance floor? No worries! Every inch of this ship is designed to be totally enjoyable for almost any mood and the spacious layout really lets the party spread out yet feel connected. Flight and exploration are highly encouraged as there is plenty to see. I was even shown the secret Holographic Lounge but I was asked not to reveal its location or take any photos. You’ll just have to dig around and find it yourself!

Two Energy Lounges allow you to get away from the busy dance floor for more relaxing conversations.

You can even fly up into space for an exciting aerial view of the entire layout!
Be sure to step up and work on your DJ skills before leaving! You never know when they may come in handy.
So long for now, Flying Saucer. It was fun and I cannot wait to see this place packed out for events!

One Last Thing…

While I was quite impressed with CauseCo Industries’ waste management strategies, I would caution club-goers not to hang out around the back dumpsters too long as there may be some sort of radioactive substances being generally tossed in there which could prove harmful to your health if exposed for too long. I can’t actually prove it because I didn’t want to endanger my own self trying to collect a sample but there was a very suspicious glowing green liquid oozing out of one of the trash bags when I looked. I snapped a picture but I’d say it’s best not to get too close to it!

Suspicious green ooze leaking in the back dumpsters… Yikes!

Directions to The Flying Saucer

Well, technically it’s easy to tell someone where it is… the very center of the known Universe! Duh. Getting there is another story, however. At the moment the only way is to hop aboard a CauseCo Public Cryo Transport ship.

The main transit hub is over in Altspace (www.altvr.com). Once you sign up for a free account, use the link below to favorite the world so you can easily find it and travel to it when you start up Altspace. You can either visit in virtual reality space or simply from your PC in 2D mode! Hope to see you there!

Some promo hype for the club! (This video was created entirely within Unity)
